MEDICATION-AIDECourse Overview
Program Description: Medication Aide Program is one of the courses offered in Ideal Nursing Institute. The program is a comprehensive course designed to teach students the skills and abilities and essential basic care to patients and residents in hospitals and long term care facilities. Graduates of this program will be able to communicate and interact effectively with patients in attaining and maintaining maximum functional independence, while observing patient rights. Medication aide program provides instructions and training in way for preparation and administration of medications. Students will also learn about responsibility, control, accountability, storage and safeguarding of medications, use of reference material and documentation of medications in clinical records. Medication Aides will gain knowledge in understanding drug reactions and side effects of medications commonly administered to facility residents. Understanding drug reactions and effects Medication Aides students will gain knowledge in understanding drug reactions and side effects of medications; usually administered to facility residents and consumers. Work settings: At the end of the program, students should be able to work in different work settings and follow facility guidelines as each patient / facility is unique. Graduates of this program may find entry-level employment as a medication aide with hospitals, long term facilities and nursing homes. |
